Ross Held: 1925-2016

Tue, 2016-10-25 13:04 -- Curt Trout

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Ross Held on October 20, 2016.

Ross was a long time member (our records indicate that he joined in 1987), leader, volunteer, board member, and officer of TCPC.  Sometime in the late 1980s he founded DOS 'N Donuts, a weekly Saturday morning meeting, which became Systems on Saturday with the added interest in Windows in the early 1990s, which met regularly for over two decades.  He was a leader and/or active member of other TCPC groups including Computer Investing and Quick Books.  Ross was the first person to be honored by becoming an Elected Lifetime Member of TCPC in 2015.  Most importantly, Ross was a dear friend, mentor, and role model to all who knew him.  He will be dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 2:30 pm at Oakwood Cemetery (1258 Cherry St.) in Red Wing, MN. Military honors will be performed by the Amery VFW Post #7929.

From the announcement I received of his passing:

"Ross felt that it was not necessary for persons living a distance away to have the expense of air flights, etc.  He asked that on the Fourth of July (his birthday) that people would take a moment to think of our wonderful country.  He dearly loved his country."
